The Margaret Court Tennis Academy first formed at the Wodonga Tennis Centre in October 2007 . Phil Shanahan, nephew of Tennis Legend Margaret Court, wanted to name the Academy after his aunt.

Winner of 62 Grand Slam Titles, Margaret Court is the greatest player of all time.

Coaches Phil Shanahan, Mark Shanahan, Cameron Meagher, Brian Benson and Clare Shanahan came together to form the academy. With 50 courts at the Wodonga Tennis Centre, the Margaret Court Tennis Academy found a wonderful home.

In November 2007, the Academy expanded its vision across the Border to the Albury Grass Courts. The 29 courts where Margaret first learnt to play tennis, is another breeding ground of great players.

With coaches Ken Wurtz, Paul Sykes, Paul Jarvie, Patrick Landy, Jade Culph, Adam Butkowski,Garth Quast, Troy Smith and Jeremy Quast now joining the Academy, the nucleus of a great team formed.

In January 2008, Margaret and her husband Barry came to Albury/Wodonga and were very excited about the Academy.
