MCTA young gun Brandon Vescio has moved into the semi final of the AMT Gold Tournament in Bathurst. Brandon will meet Scott Wagland of Sydney.

MCTA juniors raise money for drug rehabilitation centre. Academy juniors run in the annual Albury Wodonga Drug Run. The 7km run was well supported with this years ambassadors, Tennis Legend Rex Hartwig and Australian Tennis Star Casey Dellacqua. A special congratulations to Will Edgar for raising $80. MCTA juniors win the NSW State High Schools Championship. MCTA Griffith players Maddi Gregor, Megan Polkinghorne, Sophie Hicks and Chloe Oates represented Wade High School. In the final they defeated Camdon 5 sets 35 games to 1 set 21 games. What an awesome effort girls - we are all very proud of you!

MCTA Juniors do well at Medibank Country Junior Championships in Forster. Aaron Breust made the final of the boys 13&14 Singles. Tavis Bergamin and Alfredo Di Gregorio made the final of the 14 Doubles. Tavis Bergamin and Madellyn Buckland were finalist in the 14 Mixed Doubles.

The Margaret Court Tennis Academy is deeply saddened by the news that Tennis Legend George Fletcher has passed away. To Marie and her family our deepest sympathy. In 2010, the Margaret Court Cup named its 16/U Boys Singles Title after our great friend. We are all going to miss you mate until we meet again. God Bless you mate!

MCTA star Sophie Edgar (represtenting Mackillop) has taken out the NSW State Title in Bathurst. Coach Phil Shanahan is very proud of his team taking out the Boys and Girls Titles winning the Don Moon Trophy.

MCTA Griffith junior Jack Catanzariti has taken out the ACT 14 Boys Doubles Title. Coach Cheryl Rawle said," Jack has continued his great form from the Frankston Tournament and we look forward to seeing Jack go from strength to strength this year." Other players who performed well were Lachlan Cribb, Josh Graetz, Sophie Tyson and Tavis Bergamin.

MCTA superstar Sam Groth has gone down in the Semi Final of an ATP Challenger in France. Sam lost to World Number 126 Spanish player Hidalgo Ramirez 7-6 4-6 6-3 in the St Brieuc tournament. A big year ahead mate!

Dec 20 MCTA congratulates Casey Dellacqua for winning the Wild Card into the 2010 Australian Open. After a total shoulder reconstruction earlier this year, Casey is back! We are all very proud of you Casey.
Dec 18 MCTA juniors travel to Melbourne for the Australian Open Wild Card Play offs. 45 juniors from our academy had the best day ever. Up close to the players, it was a day to remember. Our academy went to support Casey Dellacqua and our MCTA super star Joey Swaysland. After going down in the Singles Semi Final, Joey took out the 16/U Doubles Title. Our juniors also had the opportunity to catch up with MCTA star Sam Groth and his wife Jarka. It was great to watch them train. August 30th - MCTA juniors Sophie Edgar, Dolen Vogel and Aaron Bruest do well at Champion of Champions Tournament in Young. Sophie won the 12U title, Dolen was runner up in the 12U Boys and Aaron was runner up in the 14U Boys.

April 18th - Margaret Court Tennis Academy juniors Lewis Ahern and Willian O'Connell have taken out the Frankston 16/U Doubles Title. The grass court players were too good at the net for their opponents. 21 juniors from the MCTA competed at the National Points Tournament. At the completion of the tournament we travelled to Shepparton to watch and support Joey in the Junior Davis Cup.

In a supurb serve volley exhibition, Troy is starting to show signs that he is back to his best, the form that took him to the number 1 in the nation as a junior. The best is yet to come.

April 8th - Margaret Court Tennis Academy star Sam Groth has won his third round in a US Challenger defeating Udemchoke 76 63. Udemchoke recently defeated Hewitt and Klein in the Davis Cup. Well done mate!

April 3rd - WTA player Stephanie Wiltshire joins Margaret Court Tennis Academy as a coach. After a busy 3 years on the circuit with 30 WTA points, Stephanie has decided to come home to finish Year 12. We are all very happy to have our former junior home to pass on her valuable experience to our players.

Saturday, March 14th - Sam Groth wins Albury's Young Achiever of the Year Award. Alburys Sam Groth was crowned the 14th winner of the Norske Skog Young Achiever of the Year award. Groth was rewarded for an outstanding 12 months, joining previous winners including Lauren Jackson, Scott Martin and Emma George on the honour roll.

Jan 2009 - Sam Groth goes down to Marty Fish at the Australian Open. Our academy is very proud of its former junior Sam Groth for taking it right up to the number 23 seed Marty Fish. After taking the first set, Sam was only a few points away from taking the second set. Sam eventually went down in four sets in a great match. Sam also served the fastest seve at this years Open - 232km. Sam's match was undoubtedly one of the best Australian performances - you only have to ask Marty!
