Born in Albury New South Wales, Margaret went on to win an incredible 24 Singles Grand Slam Titles, 19 Grand Slam Doubles Titles and 21 Mixed Doubles Titles – a record for any male or female player.
Margaret is one of two women to have achieved the Grand Slam in Singles in the Open Era (alongside Steffi Graf) and is the only woman to have achieved the Mixed Double Grand Slam which she did twice. Margaret won 192 singles titles before and after the Open Era, an all time record.
Her career singles win-loss record was 1177 – 106, for a winning percentage of 91.74% in all surfaces (hard, clay, grass, carpet) is also an all time record.
